FABRIC DESCRIPTION
Jersey is a fabric made not by weaving threads on a loom, but by knitting, i.e. by weaving a thread, obtained with needles, crochets or knitting machines, in which the thread forms loops or bushings, lined up next to each other to form a row.
At the end of the 19th century, the inhabitants, mostly fishermen, of a Channel Island in Britain wore clothes made of a heavy, very soft and naturally elastic knit.
This fabric was named Jersey, after the island itself, but was not immediately used for clothing and fashion.
It was Coco Chanel, in the inter-war period, who was the first to use Jersey to make fashion garments, and especially in the world of women's clothing.
WASH
The cotton jersey fabric does not require ironing. It can be conveniently machine washed at 40°C and air dried.
